![]() ![]() all of that could also lead to higher than expected damage. the 3 shots don't hit exactly at the same time. I'm not sure how to phrase this - the idea isn't well formed (pre-caffeine) - but using multiple shots (3x strife) and how that interacts with ballistic penetration, and how much damage 'penetrates' based on shield strength, and the order those calculations are performed, and whether there is a potential timing issue if e.g. This presumes both that the actual in-game shield strength is as you expect (based on data mining, not actual in-game readouts), and that the percentage display of shield strength after the hit is correct. The other possibility is that there is an issue with your measurement methodology - currently you're calculating what the shield HP should be and what it is after the hit, based on percentages. If the strife was the sole culprit then you'd expect 3x strife to do consistent damage - whereas you saw a variance of nearly 10%. Note that you were using 3x strife and did 1605 damage, and Cutler was using 3x strife and did 1490. It does indicate that the issue is likely to be with the Strife, rather than the hull or the shield, but as we all know, it's also very likely that CIG have several issues resulting in the same symptoms. Personally, I've not used the Strife this patch, so you may well be right - but I'd want to see more comprehensive testing.Īnd yes, I've read your paragraph about 'Cutler Cycles comments and test' - his test changes both the ship and the number and type of the shield, meaning that there are too many variables changing at once for it to be a valid control. Unfortunately, all your test does is show there is a discrepancy between what you expected and what you measured - but it says nothing about where that discrepancy lies. just a single All Stop shield and the strife, to check it wasn't issue with how the two shields are added together? Hmmm - my first thought would be: where are the controls?ĭid you repeat the test with any other weapon (and same shields / ship hull) to make sure that other weapons were dealing the expected damage?ĭid you test the Strife using a different shield on the same hull, to test whether the issue was with the shield, rather than the weapon?ĭid you test with a different hull, using e.g. Seems like something is not correct with the mass drivers. So total damage was ~1490 damage instead of 996. The mass drivers also did the intended 12% penetration which equaled ~130hp hull damage. after the shot the front face of the FR-66 was left at 11% which should calculate to 1361 damage. My test was an arrow with 3 size 2 mass drivers firing on an arrow with a fr-66 shield. ![]() They are bugged and do way too much damage.Ĭutler Cycles comment on my youtube and his test: ![]() Now I know why everyone and their mother is using these guns. Not bad for a weapon that is suppose to do 996 damage LOL!. Plus 5.06% structure hit point damage - I scanned the Gladiator after the hit (physical weapon shield penetration) = 7180 x 0.0506 = 363 damage to the structure hit points of the Gladiator.ġ242 shield damage + 363 structure hit points damage = 1605 total damage. So I did 1242 shield damage (46% of 2700 front shield hps) I used 3 Strife Mass Drivers 332 damage per shot each = 996 damage Target: Gladiator with 2 AllStops = 2700 shield hps/shield face Cutler Cycles wrote a comment on my youtube, since his math was good and he understands the mechanics, I decided to check it out. ![]()
